Ten fonts, as many grids, a panoramic decade of work. Editorial design for mono.kultur #27, on American photographer Ryan McGinley.

mono.kultur is a Berlin-based interview magazine dedicated to a single subject per issue. Each issue is designed by a different designer, with the one single constraint being its A5 format.
McGinley’s photographs are constantly in motion: naked kids climbing trees, diving into lakes, leaping through fireworks, always somewhere between ground and air. The design is eclectic by decision, mirroring the energy of the images. Ten different fonts, as many grids, a panoramic visual overview of his first decade of work from 1999 to 2011.
The issue carries a conversation with McGinley about his career, his memories of the late Dash Snow, and why every day is an adventure.
