One Possible Library
One Possible Library is a self-initiated project in the shape of a small, itinerant library on design, art, pedagogy, politics and activism. It’s built from a rotating selection of the books I happen to own, made available wherever I happen to be living.
The idea is inspired by Benjamin Franklin's first lending library, and the belief that books and knowledge should be accessible to all, and therefore circulate. The wish to build this comes from my own frustration as a design student in Lisbon, where design books were almost impossible to come by or priced out of reach on a student budget. Independent books and publications can still be hard to come by outside of big cities such as London, Berlin or Paris, and often sold at prices that are prohibitive for most people.
One Possible Library works by appointment only and books can be read in-house for free, or checked out against a deposit. It's self-funded, and it grows slowly. It’s currently located in Lisbon.
