Work in Crisis / Work in Design
Essay commissioned for the catalogue 'DES/GN: Fbaul', a publication reflecting on the current status of the practise, published by the Communication Design department of the University of Lisbon.
"Work in Crisis / Work in Design is a reflection on the changes that the Portuguese labour market has faced in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crash. What does it mean to work in design nowadays, particularly for the younger generations? What conditions do we face in an increasingly precarious profession, and what alternatives to the status quo can we foresee and build together? The article explores and tries to find possible answers to these and other urgent questions.
